Week 12 – Optimizing Yourself – Go BIG With Creating Positive Self-Talk

creating positive self-talk

Reprogramming the brain for positive self-talk

Behavioral researchers describe the human brain as the most powerful computer there is. We think up to 50,000 thoughts a day, but many of them are negative, and those thoughts are the basis of our self-talk dialogue that we all have throughout the day.

Old programming from our past gets stored in our subconscious mind, and needs to be re-programmed, or updated to support our current reality, or our goals.

The exciting news is that we can re-program our minds to think positive thoughts and create a new self-dialogue.

This week I am going to create positive self-talk to motivate myself to achieve my current goals.

Brain researchers tell us that our brain pays attention to what we tell it to do, so we need to use supportive words.

I am going to swap the following words in my self-vocabulary this week, to add more awareness, certainty and resolve to what I am telling myself: I am going to use decisive words like “do” instead of “try”, and “choose” instead of “should”, and I’m “proud”, instead of I’m “only”, and I’ll “make” time instead of saying I “don’t have” time, and not “if” this happens, but “when” it happens.

These words give positive direction to my brain and remove doubt, and help re-program the old thoughts that are no longer useful. I will let you know how it goes next week.

Changing from Thinking Small to Thinking Big with My Career – Week one – 52 Weeks to Optimizing Yourself

Thinking Big with my career

Thinking Big with my career

For ‘52 Weeks to Optimizing Yourself’ in 2014, I am going to think big when working on my weekly goals to improve my life in the areas of: personal, financial, career, fun, relationships, intellectual, physical, mental, spiritual and health.

We have a natural desire to expand our lives and attract more good into them, and the higher we aim, the more good we will attract.

For Week One of optimizing yourself, I am going to expand my thinking and think big with my career. My three sons are getting older, and my youngest son will be finishing high school this year, which gives me more time to lunge into my career goals in a big way, so I am gathering the tools I need to help me do so.

I received a book on success in business as a gift last month, which I am going to read this week, and learn ways to think big with upgrading my website, blog and writing, and improve my online social media presence, and also learn tips on marketing, negotiating and presentation.

I will let you know how thinking big about my career goes next week.

Review of Week 52- Optimizing Yourself – Report Card for Year of Optimizing Yourself

When I looked back on all the optimizing yourself topics of the year, I found a common thread among them all, and it was improving how I used my time.

My time on earth is short and precious, and a large percentage of it is already used up with sleeping, eating, showering and cleaning.

By setting goals for myself each week, I feel that I optimized the use of my time, and did more activities that I wanted to do, such as spend more time in nature, listening, reading, writing, playing, meditating, working, clearing clutter, visualizing, and being aware. I still have room for improvement on my goals, and will continue to work on them, but I am putting a gold star on my optimizing yourself report card this year, because I feel I came a long way towards achieving my life goals.

This year, I made a habit of optimizing the hours in my life, and added more life to my hours!
