Boundaries Help You Define Your Relationships

We are social creatures and our boundaries tell others what we think is okay for us and what is not okay.
They help us know who we are.

They also help us form authentic relationships with other people, as defining what makes us happy and what doesn’t, increases understanding.

We cannot set boundaries for other people, only for ourselves.

Without boundaries, chaos prevails.

Tom Whitehead from The Hakomi Institute says that if someone steps over the line, we may not be able to see the line but we can feel it or sense it.

Our boundaries aren’t static but change along with us. Boundaries protect us from things that feel bad for us. They push us to seek out people who support us.

Some people may disagree with your boundaries but only you can decide what your needs are.  Your boundaries help you get your needs met so you can live in harmony instead of chaos.

Dear Friends:

You may find that being beautiful, abundant, loving, friendly, healthy, fit, secure, peaceful, smart, kind, sober, rich, spiritual, sociable, intelligent, motivated, rested, relaxed, creative, and successful is possible.

You may find someone who supports your positive changes.

You may find that healthy habits feel better than unhealthy ones.

You may find that habits like eating, smoking, drinking, and gambling to excess aren’t as fun as being in charge of your actions.

You may find that feeling good is the reward.

“The reward of a thing well done, is to have done it.” Seneca

So Do it now.

Today is all you have.

One step today, another one tomorrow, and another the next day, will elevate your self-respect and make you feel good.

You reward yourself.

Good luck!

Bye for now, I’m going to the gym with my workout buddy!

Leave a comment about what step you are taking now to make 2016 THE BEST.

Love Ann.

Review of Week 13 – Nurturing Your Body in a BIG Way

For this week’s optimizing yourself exercise, instead of giving into the demands of daily life and feeling disconnected to my body, I took time to connect with my body.

I awakened my olfactory sense with scented creams, soaps, perfume, and bubble bath.

I wore soft, fleecy clothing against my skin.

I connected to my life force by breathing, exercising and sweating – pumping blood and oxygen through the cells of my body.

I drank a large, nutritious fruit and spinach smoothie each day – a healthy drink, and a handy small meal substitute.

I listened to calming music which soothed my ears.

Nurturing my body removed tension and stress, had positive benefits on my mind and health as well, and by the end of the week, I felt like I was in paradise 🙂

Review of Optimizing Yourself – Week 43 – My Imagination Paints My Dream

This week I wrote in my dream journal and felt a good vibe.  This is what my dream feels like:

I am walking down a street that is made of stones and feels bumpy beneath my sandals. The sun warms my back as I touch the soft petals of the hibiscus flowers in the blue flower boxes outside the store windows.

I feel healthy and happy and energetic.  I am doing what I love – walking and writing and reading and sitting outdoors and learning a lot of new things, while meeting interesting people.

The villa I am staying in has cypress trees growing near the windows providing cool shade in the evening.  I can reach the branches and feel their spiky texture through the open window.

I am cooking the vegetables that I pulled from the garden outside the kitchen, and serving them at a big table outdoors made of stone mosaic that has been smoothed by the elements over the years.  I am sitting in a comfortable

wicker chair and sharing the food and laughter with my friends and family while the children laugh.  My dog’s soft furry head is resting on my foot.
