On a trip to Hollywood last week, I saw that the old fashioned billboard is alive and well, and thriving. In this digital age, two men on a scaffold spent days installing the iconic message in the epicentre of the entertainment district. A Hollywood billboard costs roughly $25,000 a month, is oversized, at 14 by 48 feet, and changed often. It strokes a star’s or a brand’s ego, in a high vantage, high traffic location to be seen by people with the power to promote it on their media channels, and to help win them a Grammy an Oscar or an Emmy.
You are the star of your own life and changing your billboard keeps you moving forward.
There Are No Plateaus
You are either moving up towards your goal or moving down with a chance to learn. We want certainty, but being stuck in a plateau means you are in a rut. You are always moving and changing in life, and need to adapt to the present and adjust for the future.
We want to control and change everyone and everything, but we can only change our own life.
It is hard to figure out what we want, and to decide to go for it, and what we want is constantly growing and evolving, and painting our billboard with an eye to the future is the best direction we can take.
Waiting for circumstances to change is tying yourself to the past, and to what is.
A new billboard sets you on a direction of your dreams and you pick up momentum with the vision you create for yourself.
Each day is an opportunity to primer over your past which is gone anyways, and paint a new dream for your future in a vibrant color.
