Happy Shoes in Hollywood – The Human Races

Happy Shoes in Hollywood
Happy Shoes in Hollywood

The walk of fame in Hollywood is like a glossy magazine turned real life.  Perfectly coiffed leashed pups skid by on the granite of the sidewalk of fame that doesn’t have a blade of grass in sight.  Their owners pass by the window of the local Starbucks at Sunset and Vine Streets, where reading my book gives over to people watching inside and out.

Most clients are under 30, industry people, dancers between shows, actors post meeting and audition, agents in eco-organic Westcoast bamboo evening wear, and movie reviewers from nearby LA film festivals.  The creative easy vibe weaves through the fabric of the community.

They live and breathe the easy breezy gruelling, hardworking, trendsetting 24/7 lifestyle of fashion and entertainment creation.

Then I see the coolest thing.

I want them, they make me smile.

I am compelled to ask about them.

“Do your shoes say Happy?” I ask the hip young strawberry haired man whose feet are in them, as I grab my hot tea from the counter.

“Yes”, he says in a brusk Russian accent, (or so I think).

They are the only pair like them in the world.  One side is English one side is Asian.  We’re talking bilingual shoes!

They are called Adidas Human Races.

One off.  Hollywood.  Premiere here.

He says his brother is a designer in Italy who added rope laces on top of the usual Adidas and replaced the yellow plastic casing with gold plastic for the bespoke pair.  He is not Russian, he is from The Ukraine, and said most people don’t know where that is. I say: “I do!” Russia invaded them not long ago and it was bad. He liked that I understood.  I told him about all the people from Ukraine that are in Vancouver.  He gave me his contact and said if I need more info to ask him.

The human races are the coolest! And bespoke.

I think Pherrell Williams needs a pair.  He has a line with Adidas.

Heck, who doesn’t need happy shoes and happy feet?  Makes you feel good looking down at the words. Art in any form has the power to bring people together in a way politics can’t!

Have a Happy Day!
