Get Your Mind Off The Virus and Thrive

They say the best way to take worry away, is to get a bucket of hot soapy water and a scrub brush, get on your hands and knees and start scrubbing the floor.

It’s not much different than getting a pen and notepad and writing a journal entry or a short story. You get lost in the doing and you find peace.

When you are engrossed in what you are doing, you are being present with life. You are creating something with the talent and skills that you have.

My son Carson is making his first solo album and showed me some songs he made today. For a few months now, he has been in his studio experimenting with sounds and lyrics and he is making 10 songs. Here is a sample of my favourite song on his album.

Listen to ‘Night Drive’ by Carson Hoy

When you clean something, or cook some food, or write a story or make music, you improve your situation, and make things better using your talents and skills.

By really paying attention to what you are doing, the thing becomes beautiful, like art, you notice the intricacies of common things, and really appreciate and enjoy the experience.

Then you don’t dwell on your fears, and you have faith in the human spirit to overcome even the worst conditions, and become even stronger because of them!
